When Leftovers Can Ruin Your Diet {Day 15}
Day 15 of my weight loss journal, 1500 calories. When leftovers are ruining your diet. (See the other days in this weight loss journal here)
Day 15: 114.8
I cheated on the weight check-in today. I actually weighed in at 116, but then I weighed again after my workout and going to the bathroom. I’m starting to get a bit discouraged to be honest. I’ve had some extremely tempting situations, and it’s just going to get harder the next week.
Last night, we hosted a “Friendsgiving”. I made stuffed mushrooms, stuffed jalapeno’s, mashed potatoes (that I made with cream and a pound of butter!!) and we bought a cheesecake with Leatherby’s caramel, pudding, and whipped cream on top.
I was honestly very happy with how much I ate. I had a little taste of everything, but I didn’t overeat, and I felt great at the end of the night.
The problem wasn’t the meal. The problem is THE LEFTOVERS! It’s one thing to stay strong for two hours during a meal. It’s another thing to have all the food leftover in your fridge. This included:
- Ribs
- Mashed potatoes (made with cream and a pound of butter)
- Costco PUMPKIN cheesecake
- Costco Classic cheesecake with Leatherby’s caramel and whipped cream!!
- and A cake sent to me for my birthday from Bakemeawish.com! (RED VELVET!)
Another reason this is a problem…my household is JUST my husband and I. And he eats healthier than me. I get it in my head that I have to eat the leftovers, because no one else will.
To top it off, it’s my birthday tomorrow and I know there will be even MORE treats!
So, we’ll see if I can make it through Thanksgiving without gaining weight.
That’s it for today. Be back tomorrow!
Amy,
Thank you for always being real and posting this kind of content! I am in the SAME boat as you, in fact same weight and very similar situation ha ha, getting ready for a vacation in 3 weeks but you are helping me not get discouraged or feel like I’m the only one struggling. You got this Amy!

That’s actually one of my motivators too! We have a cruise in January. LOL
It’s happening, slower than I’d like, but I’m down a few pounds this week!! Getting closer to 10lbs!
