Meet Jamie! He successfully lost 124 lbs through meal prep and calorie counting!
Jamie’s Weight Loss interview:
How much weight did you lose in total?
I went from 305 pounds to 181 for a total of 124 pounds
What started you on the journey for weight loss?
My wife and I went to California and when we got back home she was showing me pictures and I was shocked at how big I was. It made me driven to lose the weight.
What did your diet look like?
I gave up all soda and juice and drank only water. I also stopped eating processed foods, fast foods and salty snacks.
I ate a diet that only consisted of lean proteins, fresh fruits and vegetables, healthy fats and complex carbs.
I tracked all of my foods, but I didn’t use an app. On Sundays I would meal prep all of my meals for the week and would weigh them out so that I knew exactly how many calories I was eating everyday.
The only supplement I took was whey protein powder. It is very effective at keeping you full for a longer period and helps you to not have cravings especially at night.
What type of exercise did you do?
My exercise routine was P90X, it is a great workout and I would still recommend it even after all of these years.
What tips do you have for people trying to lose weight?
There were many times that I wanted to give up but once you start to see progress you want to see what you’ll look like once you hit your goal. I also didn’t want to show my kids that it’s okay to quit when something gets hard.
I’ve had many people ask me how I did it and I can remember being very overwhelmed at first but when you break it down into small goals at first losing weight is very simple. You have to make small changes overtime until you get to the point where you’re no longer changing your lifestyle but living a new one, then it all becomes habit.
