I had to share this one! Clean Simple Eats sent me the Mint Cookie protein powder and a recipe for a Shamrock Shake. While I love brands recipes, many times they are higher in calories than is neccessary. I understand they might want to use several products from their lineup, but some things I think can be left out and you can still get the full taste.

The Ingredients for this Mint Chocolate Shake

In the original Clean Simple Eats Shamrock Shake recipe, they use 1/2 tablespoon of their mint chocolate chip cookie butter. While that only added 100 calories to the full recipe, half of a tablespoon didn’t seem like enough of an ingredient to make much difference in taste. So, I left that out.

The other change I made was CSE used vanilla Halo Top. When I went to my grocery store, there was NO Vanilla Halo Top. BUT, they did have light Mint Chocolate chip ice cream, Mmm. That seems like it would work even better.

I’m not sure why they didn’t utilize some mint extract to really boost the flavor. I had some anyway, so I decided to use that too.

I also used Almond milk instead of cashew milk. I actually couldn’t even find cashew milk in the grocery store, and I always have some almond milk. So, that worked for me!

I left out the mint Oreo cookie, because it’s unnecessary and then I’m left with a full box of Mint Oreo cookies calling my name. And where I am at in my weight loss journey, I’m just not strong enough to have a full box of cookies taunting me from the pantry.

And finally, I tripled the amount of ice. If you have a high powered blender, I can’t emphasize enough how important a healthy amount of ice is. It can possibly double, or even TRIPLE the volume of your protein shake!

Can you drink this shake and lose weight?

I’m a huge fan of protein shakes for weight loss. In fact, it’s been pivotal in my own weight loss journey as it’s a refreshing treat that helps you meet your calories and macros for the day. I was able to lose 20lbs in a 6 month period, and for most of that time, I was drinking protein shakes.

Do you have to have the Mint Chocolate Cookie Protein powder?

If you have the mint extract and the mint Halo Top Ice cream, I would just use chocolate protein powder. You’ll get pretty close to the same taste.
