Jump to RecipeWhat is Shark Week?
Shark Week is a period of one week where the Discovery channel features specials all about sharks! This year, Shark Week is running from July 23rd through the 30th! For any ocean lovers, this is a really cool opportunity to learn about nature.
It wasn’t until recently that I even heard about the event, but it caught my attention. Especially when I saw that Sonic actually makes a really cool drink in honor or Shark Week that has icy, blue coconut slush mixed with fresh strawberries and shark candies.
As tasty as the drink looked, it was higher in calories than I like for my drinks. (I prefer to eat my calories instead of drinking them). Even the smallest size, a mini, has 210 calories, and the Route 44 has a whopping 730 calories!!
BUT, I am here to tell you that you can still enjoy this tropical, refreshing slushy for the summer, and for just 65 calories!! Stay tuned as we dive into what you’ll need to recreate this Shark Week Slush from home.
How to Make a Shark Week Slush
Looking for a new drink to cool you down on a hot summer day? Try this easy-to-prepare slush. It is a great addition to a Shark Week watch party, a fun afternoon treat for the kids, or even as a pick-me-up to help you survive the heat.
Shark Week has just started, and I have been thinking of a thousand ways to recreate this classic Shark Week Slush drink from Sonic.
The easiest (because I had the ingredients) was
- Blue Zero Powerade
- Pebble ice
- Strawberries
- Shark gummies
And it turned out so yummy! Because I used Powerade, it didn’t really have much of a coconut flavor, but you could definitely add that in if you want it!
Other Possible Slush Flavor Combos
Here are some other ingredients you could also use for the drink:
- Coconut water with blue food coloring
- Sparkling water with blue Mio Drops
- White apple juice with sugar free coconut syrup and blue food coloring
If you try one of these out, definitely let me know how it was! Should I try them out too?
Any way you make it, it’s going to be HUNDREDS of less calories than the classic slush, and in my opinion, these versions taste better! So, happy Shark Week and happy slushy drinking!
