Shrimp Cocktails are something that yells “fancy”. Not only that but they have great macros, and are super quick and easy.
I like to start out with a quick trip to the dollar store or even the grocery store with disposable clear cups, I prefer the martini glasses. The disposable ones essential because you can just throw them away after and you don’t have to worry about all the mess to clean up or even broken glass.
Then you will make your cocktail sauce, it is very simple, you will mix all the ingredients together and adjust the spiciness to your liking. Once you have the sauce made, put 1 to 2 tablespoons in the center of the glass.
Next it is time to cook the shrimp. The key is to not over cook them! Shrimp cooks quickly, so you only need to cook for 2-3 minutes on each side maximum. Once you finish cooking the shrimp place them in an ice bath until you are ready to serve the cocktail. This is so important, the ice will keep them firm and juicy. Plus it will also stop the cooking process.
Once you are ready to serve, hang the shrimp around the rim of the glass. Be sure the tails hang out and down. Finally, place a lemon on the rim or in the cocktail sauce and if you would like a little bit more decoration a piece of parsley always looks nice.
That’s it! It is pretty simple, you will have a beautiful appetizer that all will enjoy!
Now are you wondering what you pair with a shrimp cocktail? A nice sparkling cider is a great compliment to the cocktails. Other things that compliment the shrimp cocktail are Bruschetta Bites and a charcuterie board. Tell me more of what you enjoy with a great shrimp cocktail.
Note: Another simple way to do it is to chop up the shrimp and mix with cocktail sauce and place in a small cup with a little spoon.
