Broccoli in Garlic Sauce

Delicious as a side dish, or on rice or pasta, this broccoli in garlic sauce will bring your boring broccoli to leaving you craving more.

Ingredients

  • 2 tablespoons sesame oil
  • 1 lb broccoli crowns
  • 1/2 medium red onion
  • 5 cloves garlic minced or pressed
  • 2 tablespoons sugar
  • 2 tablespoons soy sauce
  • 1 teaspoon corn starch
  • 1 dash salt and pepper

Instructions

  • Prepare the sauce by mixing sugar, soy sauce and corn starch in a small bowl.
  • Heat pan with the sesame oil to medium heat. When the pan is hot, add onions and garlic. Give them a quick sauté for  2 minutes or so, until the onions start to soften and then add the  broccoli. Cook for an additional 2 minutes or so.  
  • Give your sauce a quick stir and then pour on top of the broccoli. Keep stir-frying until the broccoli is desired texture ( little crunch) This will take a few minutes.  The sauce will go from liquid to a thicker glaze consistency as water evaporates
  • Serve over cooked rice, pasta, or with chicken
