What are Kodiak Cakes?
The Kodiak Cake brand is popular for being a high-protein pancake mix. What started as a small family business that went on Shark Tank, has now become a staple in the bodybuilding and health community as a great way to boost the protein in your day.
The mission of the Kodiak Cakes brand is to combine nutrient-rich whole grains that retain their fiber, vitamins, minerals, and protein with 10 grams of whey protein per serving to fuel all muscles each day.
While I’m sure they just started with Buttermilk, now the Kodiak cake pancake flavors include:
- buttermilk,
- chocolate chip,
- dark chocolate
- strawberry chocolate,
- pumpkin flax,
- Cinnamon Oat
- Almond Poppyseed
- Peanut butter
- and EVEN Low CARB buttermilk!
- And plant-based classic
How to make Kodiak cakes low in calories
While Kodiak cakes aren’t terribly high in calories (150 calories per serving), sometimes it’s more calories than you have room for at the end of the day.
Which is why I LOVE to make these mini little chocolate, bite sized treat!
For all you calorie-counting fans out there, I used Kodiak dark chocolate pancake mix with water, each tablespoon of mix is
- 19 calories
- 1.9 g protein
- 2.8 g carbs
- 0.4 g fat.
So, if you can cook them up by the TABLESPOON, and only add water, you’ll ONLY get 19 calories, but almost 2 grams of protein!
The recipe for these Chocolate pancakes are:
Kodiak Chocolate Protein Pancakes
Ingredients
- 1/2 Cup water

Instructions
- Mix pancake mix with water.
- Drop by tablespoon onto a hot skillet.
