The Self-Talk Thoughts that Keeps Me Motivated to Lose Weight {plus a 1300 calorie day}
73 days to go to lose 7 more pounds for Bikini prep 2023.
A few conversations I’ve had with people recently, is they want to know how I’ve been able to stay consistent.
For the record, I do struggle here! I have to talk myself into staying on track almost daily! When I want to cheat on my goals, and on my life, I ask myself the one question: What is my brain telling me to justify this? (Check out this article about that.. I REALLY go into detail here)
But most of the time, If I’m not in the mood for soul searching and finding out why I want to sabotage my goals, I turn to the thoughts below. I’m sure there’s more, but these are the ones I pull out most often. (as another P.S. I wrote this article, 52 Weight Loss Affirmations before I started to see success. So, they aren’t as relevant as the ones below, but still might be worth reading)
Self Talk
- I can do anything for a week/month/day, etc.
- Are you really going to abandon your goals for one lousy treat?
- If you eat this, how will it make you feel tomorrow when you weigh in?
- This isn’t hunger. You’re just having a craving because you saw that food.
- I won’t let food control me or have power over my goals. Why would I give something inanimate that much say in my life?
- Overeating or overindulging might seem like a good idea in the moment, but you KNOW how you’ll feel after- Sick, uncomfortable, lethargic, and bloated.
- This isn’t hard. You know what’s hard? Not reaching your goals that you’ve had for four decades!
- This isn’t hard. You know what’s hard? Being overweight. That is harder than sticking to a diet.
- If you aren’t willing to eat raw broccoli, you probably aren’t that hungry.
- Just be consistent for the next 3 months, at the end you can decide if the lifestyle is too strict, than you are more than welcome to abandon it. Until then, just wait. It’s only three months! (and back to #1: I can do anything for 3 months!)
- Another snack is not the answer to being bored. Give yourself more credit than that! Make the most of your down time to really thrive.
- Life is meant to be lived to the fullest. Reaching my weight loss goals HAS contributed to my feeling of living a full life. Eating anything I want, any time I want has never led to a thriving existence.
- Live the Story you want to tell! I need to write a full post about this, but in a nutshell, I want my end of life to be full of stories of experiences and adventure, not the fact that I ate every Crumbl Cookie that they sold. LOL
- I’m grateful for this struggle. It’s kept me eating healthy and working out my whole life! I would choose my challenges in life 1000 times over again if I had a choice.
Let me know in the comments! Do you have anything you say to yourself to keep yourself on track?
And finally, here’s my meals from yesterday
