To make this mug cake lower in calories, I measured out the amount of cake mix it would take to keep the calories under 100. It turned out, with a standard cake mix, to be 2 tablespoons.
I also used egg whites instead of a whole egg to save calories.
The final cake came in at just 100 calories! Of course, I added strawberries and whipped cream, but you can add any toppings you like. Even fruit and yogurt would taste great, or drizzle some warm chocolate on top.

Can you use regular liquid eggs?
YEs! 1 tablespoon of egg whites works!
Hi Amy,
I’m sorry, perhaps I wasn’t clear in my question. I was asking about regular liquid eggs because o was having trouble finding liquid egg whites. I was able to find liquid eggs with the same calorie count.l, but I was wondering if those would have an impact on the outcome of the cake.
Oh!! I see. I would instead just use 1 whole egg white, rather than liquid eggs.
I made this as written the first time but the texture of a microwave cake didn’t work for me. Too spongy. So I made it again but put it in a 350 oven for about 7 minutes and it tasted just like regular cake. I used chocolate cake mix. Thanks for a great treat!
Thanks for the tip Linda!!
Delicious! I added chocolate syrup
