There are so many products on the market for tortillas, and some of them are crazy high in calories! But, I’ve found my favorites, because I love wraps and egg burritos. So, the best tortillas that I’ve found, for the least amount of calories are below. (please share yours too in the comments!)
From low carb, to low fat, to low calorie, there is a tortilla for everyone. The interesting thing in looking at calories on packages of tortillas is that most promoted as “low carb” are also low in calories. It just must not be trendy to advertise low calorie yet! LOL.
I first realized how crazy the calories could be in a tortilla when I calculated a salad from Cafe Rio. Add the tortilla, and you literally add 440 calories to your salad! WHAT?? That’s insane, right? Unless you are on a serious bulk and need as many calories as possible, I’d rather get my calories from other things like the meat and cheese.
Maya’s Tortillas- 80 calories
So, one of my favorite tortillas for the best price, I buy Maya brand tortillas (the 80 calorie ones). I can find them anywhere (at Walmart, Kroger, or Associated Foods), they are the perfect size for a wrap or burrito, and they are affordable.
La Tortilla Factory Tortilla- 45 calories
I would LOVE to buy the La Tortilla Factory low carb brand. They only have 45 calories per tortilla, but I just can’t justify the price, and the closest store is too far away for me. I’d want the white tortillas, and I can only find whole wheat on Amazon (still too expensive in my opinion!)
La Banderita Low Carb Tortilla – 50 calories
And then, for my TRUE favorite, but I have a tough time finding these.. for the price AND for the calories, is the La Banderita Low carb tortilla. Only 50 calories, and the perfect size.
Of course the new mini street taco’s are popping up in the stores, for only 35 calories, but what can you really fit in those anyway? I’d have to eat two.
So, as you can see, the tortilla can have a big impact in your overall calories for your meal! I was able to cut this chicken wrap down significantly using the 80 calorie Maya tortilla!

- 30 grams avocado
- 0.5 ounce cheese
- 1 tablespoon light cream cheese
- 1 leaf lettuce
- 3 ounces rotisserie chicken
- Wrap chicken, avocado, cheese, and lettuce in a tortilla
