Why we like apples

Fruit is essential in your diet for fiber and vitamins, and apples are packed with them.

Apples have:

  • 4 grams of fiber
  • Potassium
  • Vitamin C
  • Vitamin K
  • and rich with polyphenols, antioxidants that protect your body from damage.

I love to use apples in baking, healthy snacks like these apple chips, and as a apple pie like filling for these protein crepes. Also, in my old age, I actually prefer cooked apples to raw ones. They are definitely more gentle on my stomach.

5 minute Apple fries

This 120 calorie treat for apple fries came from the booklet that came with my air fryer toaster oven. Using the air fryer setting, it only took 5 minutes, but you could easily do this in an oven.

I used:

  • ✔️1 sliced apple
  • ✔️Butter flavored cooking spray
  • ✔️1 tablespoon Graham cracker crumbs
  • ✔️Sprinkle of cinnamon sugar.

I put the apple slices in a bowl and sprayed them with the butter flavored cooking spray. Next, I sprinkled the Graham cracker crumbs in and mixed it around. Then, I arranged the slices on the air fryer basket for my toaster oven. Next, sprinkled the slices with cinnamon sugar. Then baked in the air fryer for 5 minutes! This makes them a little crispy, similar to fries, which is why we are calling them, apple fries! Watch them carefully! The will burn in 7!! ?

Apple fries is high carb treat, but I like to add protein by dipping the apple slices in vanilla Greek yogurt! So good!

Love Apple Fries. Tried to get your Weight Lost Menu but the website came up with error. Would love to take a look at that. I’m Type 2 Diabetic with Rheumatoid Arthritis, looking for “food changes”. I refuse to use the word “diet”, Oops! did I just use that horrid word. Thanks for the recipes. Blessings.

  2. For some odd reason, my apples did not crisp up; they were soggy! I did the 350° for 15 minutes—not sure where I went wrong.

    1. I’m so sorry! I got that recipe straight from the booklet that came with the air fryer I bought. Perhaps a different brand has different temp settings and you’d have to test yours until it comes out properly?

It may be the type of apple and how old they are. I tried both and had a issue with the softer type being soggy. Hope you try it again, soo yummy!

    1. I’ve made this with monk sugar (or xylitol) and it’s turned out ok! I haven’t tried with splenda, but a zero calorie sugar with a granulated texture would be ideal.

  3. Can I do multiple apples sliced at one time in the air fryer or do I need to do one apple sliced at a time?

      1. Hello, a bit off topic, but my husband wants to take them to work tomorrow and I don’t think these can be refreshed the next day lol. Do you have any recommendations to making their freshness last for the next day?

        1. Hi !I’m clearly too late because he probably already went to work, but you are right- I think they’ll lose their crispness if you tried to save them, no matter how you store them!So sorry!Amy

      1. Can I use brown sugar instead of Cinnamon my husband is allergic to cinn he’s also a snack guy apples are one of the fruit he can eat

To make them gluten free/ wheat free, I used a couple tablespoons of Honey Nut Cheerios crushed up in place of the graham cracker.

    1. They now carry gluten free gram crackers I get them at Walmart and they are so good. The product is called.
Schar. And there sandwich bun are really good.

  5. They look Delicious but was wondering do you think switching to bit of butter would be possible instead of the spray? Thanks in Advance excited to try them!!

  6. For the life of me I can’t find the temp you did them at. I did 350 for 5 but had to go a title longer. They are delicious but did you use higher? Thanks!

    1. Deb! I’m so sorry. You are right. I’ll fix it. I used 425, but 350 for 10-15 minutes is what Cuisinart recommended, which is what I have. So, I probably should have stuck with that! 🙂
