Cottage cheese is a great ingredient for adding protein to your recipes. Here are a variety of healthy dishes that use cottage cheese.

I don’t know about you, but I am always intrigued by the most recent food trends. While I know some trends and diets aren’t great, there are some that I actually try out and incorporate into my life!

For example, I have been using a viral hack to microwave my asparagus in minutes! And I have been loving the Tik Tok tortilla hack for making folded quesadillas!

So, you can imagine that the recent trend in cooking with cottage cheese caught my eye as well. I have been eating cottage cheese for a long time, but there are SO many more ways to use it now.

With this in mind, I decided to gather up some tasty, low calorie cottage cheese recipes.

Sides/Appetizers Using Cottage Cheese

Sometimes you don’t have enough cottage cheese to make a full on meal, or you just don’t need that much food. These recipes are good for when you’re just wanting something light!

1.Creamy Dill Dressing with Veggies – While I’m totally fine eating my veggies plain, I also like to spice things up by eating them with dips. This creamy dill dressing is a perfect low calorie option. Many of you know that Bolthouse Ranch is my go-to. With comparable calories and macros, this dressing is a good substitute for the ranch!

Serving Size: 1 tablespoon (1/16 of the recipe) –> 30 calories, 3g fat, 1g carbs, 1g protein

2. Cottage Cheese Honey Dip – I’m a big fan of fruit dip, if you couldn’t tell from my recipes for peanut butter, chocolate protein, and caramel fruit dip. However, my dips usually incorporate greek yogurt rather than cottage cheese. So, I’m excited to try this recipe for cottage cheese and honey dip!

Serving Size: 1/6 of the recipe –> 59 calories, 2g fat, 4g carbs, 6g protein

3. Quick Cottage Cheese Salad – Whenever there is a potluck, I always bring something that I know I can eat to stay within my health goals. That way I don’t load up on all the treats and sabotage my diet. If you’re looking for a new salad to bring to a party or gathering, try this quick and easy cottage cheese salad. The peppery arugala along with the creamy cheese and roasted nuts is amazing!

Serving Size: 1/2 of the recipe –> 382 calories, 16g fat, 44g carbs, 21g protein

4. High Protein Pink Cottage Cheese Salad – This is another recipe that is perfect for bringing to a gathering. There are some healthy foods that I hesitate to share with others, but this one is a winner every time! Since it only needs 3 ingredients, it is easy, quick, and cost effective to make.

Serving Size: The whole recipe –> 106 calories, 1g fat, 9g carbs, 15g protein

5. Twice Baked Cottage Cheese Potatoes – These twice baked potatoes are great for beefing up any meal. The cream cheese makes them a hearty, low calorie addition to any protein or veggies. Plus, they are delicious!

Serving Size: 1/2 of a potato (1 potato skin) –> 77 calories, 0.3g fat, 11g carbs, 8g protein

6. Cottage Cheese Fritters and Salsa – In the past I have made zucchini fritters. Although, I hadn’t ever thought to use cottage cheese to make fritters. Between the cheesy fritters and pomegranate salsa, this make for a fun and creative appetizer.

Serving Size: 1/2 of the recipe –> 482 calories, 16g fat, 53g carbs, 21g protein

Savory Courses Using Cottage Cheese

7. Bacon Cottage Cheese Egg Bake – I’m a firm believer in starting off your day with a protein packed breakfast. That’s why I love egg recipes such as this bacon gruyere cottage cheese egg bake. The fluffy eggs combine with bacon, cheese, and more to make this the ultimate breakfast casserole!

Serving Size: 1 slice (1/8 of the recipe) –> 321 calories, 22g fat, 7g carbs, 23g protein

8. Cottage Cheese Palak Paneer – Indian food is know for having lots of flavor, and this instant pot palak paneer is no different! For those who are unfamiliar with the dish, it is a vegetarian meal consisting of tender paneer cheese cubes (or tofu) simmered in a flavorful and creamy spinach sauce. This meal is high protein, low calorie, and delicious!!

Serving Size: 1/6 of the recipe –> 307 calories, 1g fat, 58g carbs, 20g protein

9. Healthy Zucchini Lasagna – Most traditional lasagnas contain 300-400 calories per slice. This recipe uses simple substitutions to bring you a lasagna that is under 100 calories per slice! That way, you can go back for seconds and even thirds without worrying about your calorie count.

Serving Size: 1 slice (1/9 of the recipe) –> 98 calories, 1g fat, 6g carbs, 15g protein

10. Caprese Cottage Cheese Toast – This cottage cheese recipe is similar to my greek yogurt caprese pizza in its flavors and ingredients. The nice thing is, by using toast, you don’t even have to make the 2 ingredient dough. Ready in minutes, I would definitely give this toast a try!

Serving Size: 2 slices of toast (the whole recipe) –> 299 calories, 8g fat, 39g carbs, 20g protein

11. Cottage Cheese Salmon Bowl – While I enjoy cooking, sometimes it’s nicer to have a break. Since none of the ingredients in this recipe need to be cooked, one of these cottage cheese salmon bowls can be assembled in less than 5 minutes. It’s the perfect meal for when you’re short on time or just want to relax!

Serving Size: 1 bowl (the whole recipe) –> 186 calories, 7g fat, 7g carbs, 23g protein

12. Cottage Cheese Burrito Bowl – Another grab and go option is this burrito bowl which requires very little time or effort to throw together. You could leave this gluten free, vegetarian version as it is or even add it cheese, avocado, or some grilled chicken.

Sweet Recipes Using Cottage Cheese

13. Cottage Cheese Cinnamon Rolls – Since I try to get 100g of protein each day, I like to find ways to add protein packed ingredients into the foods I already love. Because of this, I love the idea of adding cottage cheese to cinnamon rolls. You still get the same warm, gooey roll, but healthier!

Serving Size: 1 roll (1/12 of the recipe) –> 202 calories, 1g fat, 47g carbs, 9g protein

14. Oatmeal Cottage Cheese Pancakes – Oats and cottage cheese make these pancakes filling and protein packed! Not only are they easy to make, but they can be topped with anything you like. Personally I recommend fresh fruit, maple syrup, whipped cream, natural peanut butter or Walden Farms sugar free syrups.

15. Strawberry Cottage Cheese Smoothie – Apparently strawberries and cottage cheese are a popular pairing, based on the recipes I found. I’m not complaining though! The cottage cheese makes this a thick, creamy smoothie that is perfect post-workout or as breakfast in the morning.

16. Edible Cottage Cheese Cookie Dough – Ok I’ll come out and say it. Cookies are my weakness. I LOVE cookies! Desserts like this edible cookie dough are right up my alley! So, with a dessert like this, I would probably make a fraction of the recipe, otherwise I would eat it all haha. If you also struggle with portion control, try making your desserts in single portions!

17. Cottage Cheese Toast – Because of its creamy flavor, cottage cheese can pair well with both sweet and savory foods. Here it is combined with fresh fruit and nuts for a slightly sweet and satisfying breakfast. So yummy!

18. Strawberry Cottage Cheese Ice Cream – Viral cottage cheese ice cream is not to be missed we made this with fat free cottage cheese. Packed with protein this strawberry cheesecake flavor hits the spot!
