Protein ice cream is the perfect solution if you have a sweet tooth, and you also want to lose weight without feeling deprived.

A higher protein diet has helped me to not only lose weight, but keep it off. This is why I love utilizing protein powder for my mid-afternoon snack. The extra 25 grams of protein has helped me hit my target goal of over 100grams of protein per day.

This delicious and healthy premium ice cream recipe is so easy! Plus, it only requires 5 minutes, a few simple ingredients, and a food processor.

What is Protein Ice Cream?

Protein ice cream is a healthy alternative to traditional ice cream. It’s lower in calories than classic ice cream, lower in sugar, lower in fat, and the flavor (IMO) is just as good.

I usually just use a flavored protein powder, or vanilla protein powder and include some flavored mix-ins like Skinny sugar free syrups or sugar free pudding mixes.

How to Make Homemade Protein Ice Cream

To make homemade protein ice cream, you can choose any kind of protein powder you prefer, whether it’s whey, vegan, or a flavored protein powder. For this recipe, I used vanilla protein powder.

Ingredients:

  • 1 scoop vanilla protein powder
  • 1 frozen banana
  • 1/2 tsp xanthan gum
  • 1 tablespoon sugar free pudding mix
  • 10 ice cubes
  • and Raspberries to fold in at the end.

Tips for Making the Best High Protein Ice Cream

  1. Use your favorite protein powder. The type of protein powder you use will affect the taste and texture of your ice cream. Choose a protein powder that you enjoy the taste of. My latest picks are on this post: Best Vanilla Protein Powder.
  2. Use a food processor. Because I’m not using liquid in this ice cream., a blender usually won’t do the trick. The food processor is important to get that creamy texture without liquid.
  3. Use xanthan gum. Xantham gum can help to thicken the ice cream and prevent ice crystals from forming, giving it a creamy texture.
  4. Add your favorite mix-ins. Whether it’s fruit, chocolate chips, or even crushed candies, you can make any flavor ice cream imaginable.

Is Protein Ice Cream a Good Option?

Protein ice cream is a good option for those who want to increase their protein intake and satisfy their sweet tooth. It’s a healthy alternative to traditional ice cream, which is often high in sugar and calories. Protein ice cream is also a great way to fuel your body with the nutrients it needs to build muscle and maintain a healthy weight.
